It's Time to Be Thankful...

...for our students, faculty and especially our founders. It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of the first chair of the Dance Department, Helen P. Alkire. We are so grateful for her contributions and forward thinking in all things dance. Helen, you will be missed.

  • Building Online Portfolios and Websites, on Tuesday, December 8 at 12pm in the Interfaith Prayer and Reflection Room, 3rd floor Ohio Union. Information.

The Columbus Foundation seeks Summer Fellows to be matched with local nonprofit organization.  Both graduates and undergraduates can apply.  The deadline for application is Friday, December 4. Information.

UNDERGRAD NEWS
Graduates host a brown bag lunch/mentorship session on Dance Life Post College on Monday, November 23 from 12:30-2pm in the greenroom area.  This week's topic is: Your Future City! We will discuss strategies, possibilities and ways to manifest your dreams post-college.

Paid Research Opportunity: Promoting the Social and Cognitive Competence of Early Adolescents. Interested students should email Dr. Tzu-Jung Lin and describe your motivation in participating in this project, provide a CV/resume, a transcript (unofficial okay), and sample course projects or research projects.  Due Tuesday, December 1, 2015.

Paid Research Opportunity: The Religious Leadership and Diversity Project. Must possess efficient typing skills, an ability to work on teams, excellent time management, and a 3.2 GPA or higher.  Honors, scholars and racially underrepresented students are highly preferred. LET'S DANCE
The Magic Chest production seeks hip-hop dancers and 3 female ballet dancers for performances on December 19. Email Michelle Partway with questions.

International Ballet & Contemporary Competition in Bari, Italy in March 2016.  Registration open now. Information.

WINTER INTENSIVES
International Multidisciplinary Conference in Austria from December 17-21, 2015. Scholarships are available for up to 200EU of the total cost. Information.

Intensive Dance Therapy Course Winter Intensive in Westhampton Beach, NY. Tuition is $975 and enrollment is limited. Dates are December 27-31, 2015 and January 2-6, 2016. For information email Linni Deihl, Director.

American Dance Festival Winter Intensive in San Francisco from December 27-31, 2015 with faculty including OSU Alum, Abby Zbikowski. Apply.

American Dance Festival Winter Intensive in New York City from December 28-January 5 with faculty including Neil Greenburg, Gerri Houlihan, Leah Cox and Nia Love. Apply.

Doug Varone and Dancers 7th Annual Winter Intensive from January 3-9, 2016 at the Boston Conservatory. Applications due December 14.  Information.

January Workshop with Nancy Stark Smith from January 3-22, 2016 at Earthdance in Plainfield, MA. Information.

Shen Wei Dance Arts Winter Intensive is scheduled from January 4-9, 2016 in New York. Talk to Graduate Student Brandon Whited for information, or register here.

Registration for Winter MELT is open. Dates of the festival are January 4-22, 2016.  Faculty include Kyle Abraham, Michelle BoulĂ©, DD Dorvillier, Irene Dowd and Shelly Senter. Information.

David Dorfman Dance Winter Intensive at Gibney Dance runs January 11-16, 2016.  Register by November 20 to receive a discount. Information.

AUDITIONS
Hixon Dance, a modern dance company based in Columbus, seeks dancers (2 male, 1 female) for a theatre collaboration.  Candidates must have solid training in ballet, modern and extensive performance experience. Dancers must be available December 27-January 7. There is a $200 Honorarium available. Send resume/CV and performance video to Sarah Hixon. Materials due November 30.

Commercial Dance Intensive at UNSCA auditions are open from October 1, 2015 until March 1, 2016. Applications are online only, and spots are first come, first served. Information.

Lehrer Dance Company will hold auditions for male and female dancers age 21 and over on Thursday, December 10 at 1:30pm (sign-in begins at 1pm). Auditions will take place at Visceral Dance Center in Chicago, IL. Bring headshot and resume. Lehrer Dance is based out of Buffalo, NY. Information.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
Applications for performers for TEDxOhioState are due by Monday, November 30 with auditions to follow.  This year's theme is "Reconstructing Reality," and takes place on March 5, 2016. Information.

Call for Performance Submissions for OhioDance Spring 2016. All interested applicants should submit a portfolio of their work in the OhioDance office by Friday, December 4. Information.

Call for Submissions to New Moves - a live choreographic competition in Chicago. The competition takes place on Thursday, December 17. There is a $500 cash prize. Registration.
