Visiting Scholar comes to OSU DANCE: Dr. Clare Croft visits OSU on Monday, October 12 for her lecture, "Centering Dancers in Dance Research: Writing Dancers as Diplomats." Lecture begins at 6pm, followed by a book signing. Information.

Welcome ArtsLink Fellow, Kinga Szemessy: Szemessy hails from Budapest, and has trained in many styles of dance including contemporary, ballet, Hungarian folk dance and contact improvisation. Szemessy will be here for the next few weeks.  Read more.

Undergraduate Auditions scheduled for Friday & Saturday, October 23-24. If you are interested in being a student ambassador, please email Noelle Bohaty with your availability from 8am-3pm on either day.

MFA Concert of existence: and ways of being features works from 3rd year MFA grads Noelle Bohaty, s.lumbert and Brandon Whited. Performances are Thursday - Saturday, October 29-31 at 8pm (3pm matinee on Saturday, October 31). Information.

UCAT Planning Ahead for the Academic Job Search: The next session, "Negotiating the Job Offer" is on Monday, October 12 from 2:30-4:30pm at the U.S. Bank Conference Theatre, Ohio Union. Registration.

Fulbright Applications are due online on October 13. Information.

AGGRS Awards: The Alumni Grants for Graduate Research and Scholarship (AGGRS) application is due Monday, October 19 by 5pm. Information.

OSU Students registered with Disability Services are invited to attend an information session on mentoring programs, scheduled Tuesday, October 13 from 6-6:30pm. There will be free pizza and soda. Meet in Baker Systems Engineering, Room 120. To register, email Stephanie Volbrecht.

Study Abroad Fair: on Thursday, October 22 from 6-7:30pm in the Ohio Union, Great Hall Meeting Room. Information.

Visiting Assistant Professor Sofie Clemmensen seeks a BFA Dance Major interested in performance & choreography to be a rehearsal assistant for a residency in spring 2016. Applicants must submit a one-page essay stating interest, qualifications and how the opportunity will serve future goals; must be available from March 13-20, 2016. LET'S DANCE
New Vision Dance Co. hosts a fall workshop on Sunday, October 11 from 8:30am-3pm. The cost is $45 for the day. OSU Alum Matt Bowman is an instructor. Registration.

OhioDance Festival Fall 2015: The OhioDance Festival is schedule for October 23-25, 2015. Masterclass instructors include Kyle AbrahamInformation.

The Dog Days are Over

One more chance to catch Jan Martens at the Wexner Center: The Dog Days Are Over on Monday, October 12 at 8pm. Student tickets are $10.

XClaim Dance presents 5-6-7-8 at Columbus Dance Theatre on October 16-18. Friday/Saturday performances at 8pm; Sundays at 4pm. Student tickets $15. Information.

Doug Varone and Dancers: at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, MA on Friday & Saturday, October 17-18 at 8pm. Information.

TALKS + WORKSHOPS
Pamela Sofras is offering a Professional Development Workshop in early childhood STEM education and movement on Friday, October 23, 9-3pm.  The workshop will take place at BalletMet Columbus and the registration fee is $20.  For questions or to RVSP email Melanie Ryan.

AUDITIONS
Commercial Dance Intensive at UNSCA auditions are open from October 1, 2015 until March 1, 2016. Applications are online only, and spots are first come, first served. Information.

Short North Stage will hold auditions for their upcoming season on Saturday, October 24 at 10am. All roles are paid a weekly salary. To request an audition, send headshot and resume to E. Carignan.

Adjudications for ACDA 2016 & Winter Concert will take place on Saturday, October 31 at 9am in the Barnett Theatre. There is a strict 12 minute time limit for works in ACDA, and all cast members must be enrolled in the 2015/2016 academic year. Both undergraduates and graduates are encouraged to audition works.

Kim Robards Dance will hold auditions for male and female dancers by appointment or audition packet for positions beginning in January 2016.  They are also accepting audition packets for Trainee, Apprentice and Summer Intensive Company Project programs.  Kim Robards Dance is a Modern Dance Company based in Aurora, CO.  Information.

TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES
The ML Dance Academy in Pickerington seeks instructors for hip-hop and modern classes on Saturdays. For more information, email Joseph Moriarty.

Footsteps Dance Co. seeks a hip-hop instructor for 7-13 year old dancers on Monday evenings from 6-7pm. Contact Debra Tribune for more information.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
American College Dance Association (ACDA) will take place in Kalamazoo, MI from Saturday, March 5 - Wednesday, March 8, 2016. OSU was one of the founding members of ACDA and students are strongly encouraged to participate; conferences are filled with performances from schools around the region as well as masterclasses from faculty and graduate students at those institutions. Talk to Michael Kelly Bruce for more information.

Call for Dance Work Submissions: The 7th Annual Midwest Regional Alternative Dance Festival (RAD Fest) in Kalamazoo, MI. There are three submission categories: Live Performance, Youth Live Performance and Screendance. The festival takes place March 18-20, 2016. The entry deadline is October 16, 2015Information.

Dancewave is hosting Dancing Through College and Beyond for high school seniors on Sunday, October 18 from 8:30-6pm. This event is a free way to check out college dance programs.  Registration required. Please encourage high school seniors from the New York area to attend - it is a great way to learn about the OSU program. Information.

Jacob's Pillow Dance Festive calls for applications to perform as part of the 2106 Inside/Out Series from June 22-August 28, 2016. Applications can include all varieties of performance, audience engagement, works-in-progress or educational proposal. Applications are due October 31, 2015Information.
