Week 6 Announcements: September 28-October 4

Associate Professor, Mitchell Rose, takes the stage in his performance of The Mitch Show, which plays Friday & Saturday, October 2-3, 2015 at 8pm in the Barnett Theatre. There is also a 3pm matinee on Saturday, October 3. Information and tickets.

The OSU Department of Dance mourns the loss of Cheri Mitchell, former Executive Director of BalletMet and alum of the OSU theatre program. Cheri's passion for the arts and extreme dedication to her work in both dance and theatre made her an invaluable member of the Columbus Community. Cheri, you will be missed. Angie Hauser will be teaching a Masterclass in Improvisation on Wednesday, September 30th from 3-5pm in the Barnett Theatre. Registration details forthcoming.

OhioDance Festival Fall 2015: The OhioDance Festival is schedule for October 23-25, 2015. Masterclass instructors include Kyle AbrahamInformation.

Hubbard Street is hosting its annual Fall Workshop with a focus on choreographer William Forsythe.  Hubbard Street is based in Chicago, IL. Information.

January Workshop with Nancy Stark Smith: Early registration deadline for this three-work intensive is October 1, 2015. The workshop features contact improvisation, solo training, composition and performance. Information.

Choreographer Jan Martens at the Wexner Center: Two shows on four nights, Sweat Baby Sweat and The Dog Days Are Over on October 8 & 9 at 8pm and October 11 at 2pm & October 12 at 8pm. Student tickets are $10.

Dr. Martha Eddy is offering a Professional Development Workshop in early childhood movement for educators on Tuesday, September 29, 8:30-3pm.  The workshop will take place at BalletMet Columbus and the registration fee is $20.  For questions or to RVSP email Melanie Ryan.

Casting Audition: for Spring work in the Department of Dance will be held Saturday, October 3 from 9am-12pm.

Seven Dance Company will hold open auditions on October 3, 2015 at 12pm for a project in March/April 2016.  They are seeking dancers and choreographers.  Seven Dance Company is based in Lewis Center, OH but will be teaming up with Paul M. Sutter of OSU for this project.  Information. *NOTE: OSU dancers attending the department audition that day have special permission to arrive to this audition at 1pm instead of noon.

Kim Robards Dance will hold auditions for male and female dancers by appointment or audition packet for positions beginning in January 2016.  They are also accepting audition packets for Trainee, Apprentice and Summer Intensive Company Project programs.  Kim Robards Dance is a Modern Dance Company based in Aurora, CO.  Information.

Dancewave is hosting Dancing Through College and Beyond for high school seniors on Sunday, October 18 from 8:30-6pm. This event is a free way to check out college dance programs.  Registration required. Please encourage high school seniors from the New York area to attend - it is a great way to learn about the OSU program. Information.

Call for Dance Work Submissions: The 7th Annual Midwest Regional Alternative Dance Festival (RAD Fest) in Kalamazoo, MI. There are three submission categories: Live Performance, Youth Live Performance and Screendance. The festival takes place March 18-20, 2016. The entry deadline is October 16, 2016Information.

To the cast and crew of Feathered Landing: a Convergence of Dances, who performed last week in the First Niagra Rochester Fringe Festival 2015. Representing OSU at the event were Brandon Whited, Janet Schroeder, Ann Sofie Clemmensen, Tommy Batchelor and Calder White. MFA alum Tammy Carrasco and 3rd year MFA Sarah Levitt co-directed the production.
