Vida Midgelow
Visiting Scholar Dr. Vida Midgelow is here this week! Midgelow is a Professor in the School of Media and Performing Arts at Middlesex University in London who will speak on her work with improvisation "as a form of knowledge-as-process." Don't miss this great opportunity to hear her speak and interact with her:

OhioDance's 2015 Spring Festival seeks submissions to teach classes or workshops during the festival from April 24-26. Deadline is November 17. More information.

The Columbus-Athens Schweitzer Fellows Program is a one-year interdisciplinary, mentored fellowship program focused on health-related community service and leadership development. Applications will be accepted until February 16.

College of Arts & Sciences Study Abroad Fair: November 19, 6-7:30pm in Thompson Library (11th Floor). More information.

Edward S. "Beanie" Drake Scholarship: Established in 1950, the purpose of the “Beanie” Drake Scholarship is to provide funds to enable deserving students to participate in campus activities when need might otherwise make it difficult or impossible for them to do so. Applications are due December 10. More information.

Honors and Scholars Student Enrichment Grants: Funds are available to undergraduate Honors and Scholars students of all majors and can be utilized for a variety of purposes, including, but not limited to research, creative work and study abroad. Applications are due February 15, 2015. More information.


The Barbara and Sheldon Pinchuk Arts-Community Outreach Grant is open for educational and outreach projects connecting the visual and performing arts at The Ohio State University with the Columbus community. Applications are due Monday, December 15. More information here.

The Pelotonia Fellowship Program provides one-year research fellowships to the best and brightest OSU undergraduate students who want to help cure cancer. Cancer is a complex disease and curing it will take a multidisciplinary effort. So, no matter what the field of study, from traditional scientific fields to fields like engineering, history and business, all OSU undergraduate students may apply. More information here.

Visiting scholar Vida Midgelow will present "Dance Improvisation as Research: processes of liquid knowing and languaging" on Monday, November 17 at 7pm in room 247. She will hold a discussion with grad students on Monday, November 17 at 12:30pm in 225, and with faculty on Tuesday, November 18 at 12:30pm in the Huddle Room.

Fieldwork: A Research Presentation by the Freshman Class will take place on December 5 from 3:00-4:30pm in the Sullivant Hall 141. Come support our freshman as they present their research!

Masterclass at Charisma Centre for the Arts: Saturday, December 6 from 10-11:30am. This Cunningham-based master class will be taught by Deena Schmidt. More information.

Shen Wei Dance Arts Winter Intensive: Registration closes December 8 for SWDA's January 5-10 intensive in New York City. You can find more information here, or contact 2nd year MFA Brandon Whited, former SWDA company member, for details.

Alexandra Beller/Dances Winter Intensive: December 15-19 from 10-4pm each day at the Mark Morris Dance Center in NYC. More information.

American Dance Festival Winter Intensive applications are now available! This year, you can choose to study for ten days in New York City or five days in Pasadena, California. Register before October 20 and the $20 application fee will be waived.

Dance Connection presents Shifting Silhouettes: Saturday, November 15, 2pm & 7:30pm in the Ohio Union Performance Hall in the Student Union. This concert features many of our dance majors, dance minors, and elective class students. More information.

Call for Proposals: Second International Conference on Somatics-Based Dance Education from July 15-19, 2015 at Dean College. Proposals are due December 10. More information.

Diavolo Dance Company is holding auditions for male and female touring company members for the 2014-2015 season on December 13 in LA.

DanceWorks Chicago is holding open company auditions on December 13 at the Dance Center of Columbia College in Chicago. More information.

DanceCamera West seeks submissions for its 14th Annual Film Festival, Catch! Deadline: January 16th. More information.
