NEWS + UPDATES

Merde to the cast and crew of Sullivant's Travels! Enjoy the weekend, and be sure to attend the champagne and dessert reception on Saturday after the 4pm show. 

On Saturday, be sure to stop by the ACCAD open house for demos and performances from 1-5pm. 2nd Year MFAs Sabrina Lumbert and Brandon Whited will perform at 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm. 

OSU Dance is hiring a new, tenure-track Assistant Professor with an emphasis in studio practice and composition for Autumn 2015. Please spread the word and send on the job description to your contacts.

Sign-up sheets for James Graham's September 26 GAGA Masterclass and other masterclasses will go up in the Green Room on Monday. First come, first served. You must sign up for a technique class; attendance will be sent back to your usual technique teacher. 

Winter Concert + ACDFA adjudication is Saturday, October 18th. Sign-up sheets will go up soon in the Green Room.

Semester Funding Initiative (SFI) applications are due Friday, September 19 (today!) by midnight. 

GRAD NEWS

Washington University in St. Louis is hiring an Assistant Professor of Dance.

Institute for Curatorial Practice in Performance at Wesleyan University is now accepting applications for its MA in Performance Curation and Certificate in Performance Curation. OSU Dance alums Nicole Stanton and Katja Kolcio helped develop the program. Applications are due January 15, 2015. 

UNDERGRAD NEWS

Undergraduate Auditions are Friday, October 10 - Saturday, October 11. Volunteers are needed to help with tours, check-in, etc. Please email Noelle Bohaty to sign up.

September 30, 7:30-9: Master Class with Anitra Keegan at Ballet Met

October 2, 7pm: Visiting Scholar Lynn Garafola presents "Discourses of Memory: The Marginalization of Bronislava Nijinska" in the Schultz Lecture Hall.

September 25, 7:30pm: Opera Columbus, BalletMet and Columbus Symphony Orchestra present Twisted at the Ohio Theater. Tickets are $5 and you can even get a ride to the theater: transportation will be provided from the Ohio Union loop at 6:45pm.

September 26-28: Harvest Dance Festival in Chicago, IL

October 3, 5-6pm in Room 225: Susan Hadley will be showing Across the Field, her collaboration with dancers from OSU and BalletMet, performing with the OSU Marching Band. She will talk about the artistic challenges of creating and premiering this work for 57 performers, which addresses OSU traditions and values as a microcosm of our national identity.

DANCE OPPORTUNITIES

Call for Submissions: OhioDance's 2015 Spring Festival seeks submissions for the evening performance on April 25. Deadline is December 5. More information.

Dancing Wheels Company, America's first, professional, physically integrated company, seeks a male dancer for an immediate position. To audition, interested candidates should send a letter of interest and head shot to President/Founding Artistic Director Mary Verdi-Fletcher, or call (216) 432-0306.

Call for Participants: IUGTE hosts their annual multidisciplinary conference, "Theatre Between Tradition and Contemporaneity," in Italy from December 18-22. Arts practitioners and researchers are encouraged to attend. 

Call for Entries: 6th Annual Midwest RAD Fest from March 19-22, 2015 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Applications due October 24. 

Call for Dancers: Third year MFA candidate Rachel Barker seeks 20 dancers to participate in a site-specific work happening underneath the white scaffolding between Wexner and Mershon. 1-2 rehearsals per week and a performance at the end of October. Rehearsals start next week! Contact Rachel to learn more and get involved.

Visual Design survey: Visual design major and dance minor Jessica McManus is developing a project to examine how visual design can communicate choreographic concepts. Please complete her "Survey for Dancers" to help her gather data for her research.

STOTT Pilates Instructor Course at Oncore Body Center in Dublin: The Intensive Reformer program teaches you how to design and instruct Level 1 Reformer workouts in personal or group training settings for a range of clients. More information.

SHOUT-OUTS!

Third Year MFA candidate Megan Davis was awarded a Coca-Cola Critical Difference for Women Grant for Research for Women, Gender, and Gender Equity. This funding will support the purchase of a videocamera that will be used to capture archival footage and compose dance films and textural images that will be integrated into her MFA research. Her work, Trace Forms, will premiere February 5th at Urban Arts Space. Congratulations, Megan!
