  SPECIAL EVENTS 
Visiting Scholar Jose Luis Reynoso PresentationTwentieth Century Dancing Modernisms in Latin American Countries –Race and Class in the Production of Western Modernity. Monday, February 24, 2014 - 2-3pm in Sullivant Hall 225. Jose Luis Reynoso's interests include critical theory and pedagogy, explicit and implicit ideological discourses in dance making and the formation of artistic identities, the role of race and class in the production of notions of Western modernity, and the transnational mobility and intermixing of Latin American communities and expressive cultures.

Edward F. Hayes Graduate Research Forum. Friday, February 21, 2014. 7:15am-2:45pm in the Ohio Union. Approximately 140 graduate students will be presenting their research as either oral or poster presentations across a range of academic areas. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Mirrors Sophomore Class Honorary Annual Ball. Friday, February 28, 2014. 7:30-10:30pm at the Wexner Center for the Arts. Featuring the OSU Irish Dance Team, Dance Connection, Dance Coalition, and Dance of the Soul from China, all proceeds from this event go to benefit the James Cancer Hospital. Tickets available from Mirror members at the Ohio Union.

Vernon Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43215. Winter Concert featuring the choreography of Jill Guyton Nee, Rachel Barker, Tammy Carrasco, Kat Sauma, Serena Chang, Josh Hines, Elyse A. Morckel, Christine Ghinder, and Colleen Leonardi. Part of the 2014 winter season of MFA and BFA projects and performances.


Unique opportunities coming your way next Thursday, February 27, 2014; during technique class time: 10:20am - 12pm!

We will be hosting another handful of hopeful dance majors doing in class auditions with our fabulous freshmen on both Thursday and Friday. We will also be hosting a series of masterclasses for everyone else with artists from near and far including:

The AMAZING Ellie Carter, MFA Alum and Ballet Mistress extraordinaire. The ELEGANT Maria Glimcher, who shares her talents us and with Ballet Met dancers here in town. Our FANTASTIC Visiting Artist, Ashley Doyle-Lucas. The PHENOMENAL Wexner Center guest artists, Companhia Urbana de Dança. a unique dance group with roots in hip-hop, urban and contemporary dance. Directed by Sonia Destri Lie, the group consists of eight young dancers from the suburbs and favelas in Rio de Janeiro.

This excitement makes for some interesting logistics — Be on the lookout for an email with details unique to Freshmen and everybody else
