Evolution: The Roots of our Movement. Saturday, October 26, 2013. 7pm at the historic Pythian Theater, Columbus. The rich history and culture of West African Dance and Drumming come alive in exhilarating performances by 3 renowned dance companies. The performance follows the journey of a young dancer experiencing the history of dance though its transitions from traditional to modern and hip hop. Djun’Kendafala Dance Company will present traditional African dance that is emulated in dance forms popular today; Tapestry Performing Arts Company will showcase the African Diaspora within modern dance; I Am D.A.N.C.E. will provide a glimpse of the influence West African Dance has had on Hip Hop and on the future of dance. For 2nd Year BFAs: Considering your Contract Curriculum & Senior Project. Monday, November 4, 2013.12:30pm in Pomerene 316. We will have a special information session to discuss options for your Contract Curriculum. The Contract will be designed in consultation with your Faculty Advisor, culminating during your fourth year with your Senior Project. Be ready to listen and ask questions.

Language & Social Identity Research (LING 3604),  SP14 TTh, 3:55-5:15pm. Learn hands-on methods for sociolinguistic and dialectology research including study design, data collection, ethics issues, and data analysis. The first offering of this course last winter was a great success, so don’t miss out on essentially being trained as a Research Assistant.

Travel & Study Abroad
The application deadline for the U.S., Europe, and the Second World War May Session Study Abroad Program has been extended until November 1. Earn a History minor with the U.S., Europe, and the Second World War study abroad program! This program allows students from all backgrounds and majors the unique opportunity to study World War II where it happened years ago. During the month of May, students will travel to powerful historical World War II sites, museums, and memorials in prominent locations in Germany, France, and England. Open to all majors.
