This week: Eastbound 80 in NYC, Digital Union announcement, Study Abroad with OSUdance in China, Professional Opportunities, Kudos, new OSUdance video community and more.
Eastbound 80: A dance performance featuring choreography by OSUdance alums. Presented by: ARTS By The People. Sunday, May 12, 2013, 3pm & 7pm at Dixon Place. Tickets $15. Eastbound 80 is a brand new annual project supported by ARTS By The People and conceived by Daniel Holt and Katie Stehura. This inaugural year will act as a pilot for the project- a performance featuring their choreography along with fellow alums, Dante Brown and Kendra Portier. The goal of this project is not only to present original works by OSU alumni living in the city, but to eventually help current students transition into the professional world of NYC. The hope is that in the coming years, Eastbound 80 will provide an opportunity for students to network with working OSU alumni and perform in a fully produced NYC show, helping them begin their eastbound journey to the Big Apple.
The Digital Union is Expanding! The Office of Distance Education & eLearning will be closing the original 18th Avenue Library location today and will spend summer completing new collaborative lab spaces. The Digital Union began its expansion in 2012 with a new 26 seat location in 171a Hagerty Hall. The number and capacity of new media creation spaces around the core of campus will continue to grow with the opening of a second location in 145 Stillman Hall and a third location, through a partnership with the Health Sciences Library, in Prior Hall.
OSU Cultural Exchange Program, March 8-18, 2014 in China
Announcing an opportunity for three to four fierce dancers to tour China. Participation in this project is a year long commitment. Thanks to a state department grant awarded to Professor Bob Eckhart in the Department of English, a contingent of OSU faculty and students will travel to China as part of a American Centers for Cultural Exchange program. The Department will tour a repertory of solos, duets and trios that represents a spectrum of contemporary dance from the U.S. See link for details and application.
