         SPECIAL EVENTS          

Urban Arts Space 2013 Idea Lab Reception. Saturday, April 27, 2013. 4-6pm, 50 W. Town St. Presentations from the Idea Lab Awards recipients. This year’s OSU student projects represents a diverse array of community oriented and entrepreneurial ideas in various stages of development. Musical accompaniment by Billy Two Shoes, light refreshments provided.

DCDC2 (the repertory-training ensemble of the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company) presents The Ways of Humanity. Sunday, April 28, 2013. 4pm at the University of Dayton, Kennedy Union- Boll Theatre. 300 College Park Ave. Dayton, OH 45469. This show will feature Serpent and Crows by OSU Professor Rodney A. Brown. Connecting to the breadth and depth of the human spirit, this soul-stirring dance concert will evoke emotions, awakenings, and sensations as DCDC resident choreographers examine the human condition and the question of humility, sorrow, grace, beauty, love and what it means to be human.

Denison University Department of Dance: Africa Moves! April 26-27, 2013. 8pm at the Ace Morgan Theater, 211 West College Street. This dance concert will feature the Baker & Tarpaga Dance Project, a transnational African and contemporary company; Berry & Nance Dance Project, an all-male neo-African Dance company; and Thoissane West African Dance Institute, a local traditional-based African Dance company. Art Education 7707, AU13 Online Action Research Course with Karen Hutzel

May Term Course Offerings with OSU Dance! Includes Contemporary Fusion with Abby ZbikowskiFor experienced dancers. Mondays-Fridays, May 6-31, 2013, 9-10:30am in Pomerene Hall 316. Abby’s class offers a blend of contemporary approaches to movement with an emphasis on African Diasporic dance forms, such as House and current contemporary African dance techniques. Through this fusion of ideas, this class investigates the spectrum of ways that various cultures approach the moving body and how this information can be applied to what you are focused on as a dancer. Class cards availableJust $10 for for majors, grad students, alums and community professionals.
