Dance @30fps - A Screening of Contemporary Dance-Films

At 8:30pm, "The Co(te)lette Film" by acclaimed director Mike Figgis. ClancyWorks Dance Company is looking for teaching artists for their arts in education programs throughout Baltimore County, Montgomery County, and Fairfax County. Experience teaching dance K-12, with a focus on the history, vocabulary, technique, and cultural contexts of dance is a plus. The Batsheva Dance Ensemble will hold auditions for the 2012/2013 performance season. The first stage of the auditions will be on February 10, 2012, and is intended for dancers (Israeli and foreign residents living in Israel).
 Dancers who pass the first stage and dancers not residing in Israel will be invited to the second stage of auditions on February 16, 2012. Auditions will take place at the Batsheva studio, Suzanne Dellal Centre, 6 Yechieli Street in Tel-Aviv. For more info, please visit the Batsheva website.

Call for entries to Ohio Shorts film showcase. The Wexner Center is accepting entries through Friday, March 23, 2012 for the 2012 Ohio Shorts film and video showcase. Now in its 17th year, Ohio Shorts, to be held Saturday, April 28, 2012, features an adult and a youth division. The juried event celebrates the best of independent filmmaking in the Buckeye state, featuring short films (20 minutes or less for adults, 10 or less for youth). Read more.

Hind Benali, Moroccan Choreographer and Festival Director of Action Danse is visiting the OSU Department of Dance from January 16-27, 2012. LEC/DEM: Thursday, January 26, 2012; 4:30-6pm in Drake 1036. Hind Benali has performed in the Zinoun Ballet Theatre in Casablanca and received a grant to attend the National Choreographic Center of Montpellier in 2001. She taught classical dance at the Municipal Conservatory of Casablanca and at the French institute of Marrakech. In 2003, Hind Benali created the piece Seg Segbo with Auguste Ouedraogo from Burkina Faso. In 2006 she formed her own company Fleur d’Orange and choreographed a solo titled VOI. In 2007, she met Thabiso Pule in Madagascar and since then has worked in collaboration with him on dance education initiatives in Morocco and South Africa. In 2008 she organised and created ACTION DANCE to encourage collaborations between dancers within Africa and attract new audiences. In 2009, she worked with Nucleus Association (Marseille), leading workshops and creating a piece for Moroccan and French students at Temara School for the Blind. The same year she started the project ACTION DANCE in SCHOOLS and developed the duet MIRAGE in collaboration with Thabiso Pule. performance opportunities
The OSU Fashion Production Association is seeking performers for the annual student design fashion show, “Circus, Step Right Up!” Dancers, mimes, gymnasts, jugglers, stilt walkers and more are requested for their May 19, 2012 show. DISCO Interdisciplinary Programs Scholarship Deadline: February 17, 2012. The Diversity and Identity Studies Collective at OSU (DISCO) offers scholarships to support students who have officially declared a minor in one of the five DISCO interdisciplinary programs or a major in Sexuality Studies. The five eligible minors are: American Indian Studies, Asian American Studies, Disability Studies, Latino/a Studies, and/or Sexuality Studies. Approximately five scholarships of $500 each will be awarded. For additional information and to download the application go to the DISCO Interdisciplinary Program Scholarships page. The application deadline is February 17, 2012.

Merit and Need-Based Scholarships Deadline: February 10, 2012. The application deadline for the Humanities Merit and Need-Based Scholarships and the Natural and Mathematical Sciences Merit and Need-Based Scholarships is February 10, 2012. Keith and Linda Monda International Experience Scholarships Deadline: March 8, 2012
Due to a generous gift from Keith and Linda Monda, the college is able to offer new need-based study abroad scholarships to undergraduate arts and sciences majors. These scholarships are designed to support students who would not normally be able to afford an international experience. Scholarships will be awarded toward costs associated with study abroad excluding tuition. Financial need will be determined by the Financial Aid Office based on information pro vided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Preference will be given to students with limited or no international travel experience. Students may apply online. Study Abroad Scholarships Deadline: March 8, 2012

Coca-Cola Critical Difference for Women Deadline: April 6, 2012. Graduate Studies Grants for Projects on Women, Gender, and Gender Equity Open to all Ohio State University PhD Candidates Working on Dissertations and Students in a Terminal Masters Degree or MFA/MBA Program Working on Creative Projects or Theses. The number of grants depends on availability of funds and grants may not exceed$1,000 for a 12-month period. Instructions for applying and application forms can be obtained by going to wgss.osu.edu and clicking on "Coca-Cola Critical Difference Grant."The Cover Sheet and Preliminary Budget Sheet can be downloaded by clicking on each of them at the end of the instructions.
