Week 1 Announcements: September 28-October 4

P.I.E. – Improvisational Ensemble
This fall Noelle Chun will once again be gathering interest and participation for creating a Improvisational Ensemble in the Tuesday and Thursday Rep. Slots. Throughout the quarter, this ensemble will be exploring ways of using improvisation in performance and as a cohesive group. There will be a number of informal showings during the quarter both on and off campus. The ensemble will be start on Tuesday, September 29 after auditions so that students can coordinate scheduling with the other pieces being cast. OhioDance brings dance to the steps of the Ohio Statehouse
On October 23, dancers from Swing Columbus, Hathaway Brown’s Dance Program and Ft. Hayes Dance Ensemble will perform from noon-1pm on the West Plaza for 10-15 minutes each. Rain location will be inside the Senate Atrium. Swing Columbus performs high energy routines and improvised choreography based on the music and dance styles of the swing era (1920s-1940s). Hathaway Brown will perform part of a collaborative piece they created with OSU choreographer Lily Skove and dance their way across the steps of the Ohio Statehouse. Ft. Hayes will perform a dance based on a student's poem about empowering change.

The OSU Chorale is planning on performing a piece called Tango for Evora that would greatly enhanced by dancers. Seeking at least one couple to perform. The performances would be on Friday, October 30 for the annual Halloween concert and on Sunday, November 15 at 3pm for our fall quarter concert. 2009 International Photography Competition Announced
All current students, faculty, staff and visiting scholars at OSU are invited to submit their photos to the 2009 International Photography Competition. This is a wonderful opportunity to share your original photographs from around the world! All entries must have been taken outside the U.S. and should be creative, original, and of high quality. A "Best of Show" will be selected, as well as 1st , 2nd and 3rd place awards in the following categories: People, Places, and Food. The winning photographs will be exhibited in Bricker Hall from November 16 through December 31. The deadline for entries is 5:00pm, Wednesday, October 16. 1st Annual International Conference on Fine and Performing Arts
Call for Papers and Participation

The aim of the conference is to bring together scholars, researchers and students from all areas of Fine Arts (such as Animation, Architecture, Art History, Art Education, Book Arts, Ceramics, Community Arts, Fashion Design, Fiber, Furniture/Woodworking, Glass, Graphic Design, Illustration, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Jewellery/Metal Arts, Media Arts, Painting/Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, Fiber Arts, Visual Studies, Writing and Literature, etc) and Performing Arts (such as music, drama, dance, etc). GA Position Available
