Sololos is one of the purest expressions of Trisha Brown’s love affair with choreographic structure. Created in 1976, it is a study of causality - cause and effect, as well as logical processes, properties, variables and facts in which dancers respond to instructions called to them from a dancer offstage. The piece begins in simple unison, quickly unravels into visual complexity, then re-ravels itself back to its beginning prompted by instructions given by the caller. Governed by strict adherence to a set of rules and requirements, it exists in endless permutation as a function of these improvised calls. The vocabulary is entirely fixed, yet the form is composed in the moment.

PATCH PATH
Friday, May 30; 5:00pm
Outside between Sullivant Hall and The Wexner Center of the Arts at 15th St. and High St. Together with Bebe Miller, eight dancers have created movement in, on, around, and with the environment of these buildings and their surroundings. The music collaborators (and live performers) are Michael Wall, Ed Luna, and Terrence Karn. Please join us for a free performance, rain or shine.

FREAK 3: GARDEN PARTY
Thursday, May 29; 6:17pm
OSU Urban Arts Space, 50 W. Town St.
FREE!
"Freak 3: Garden Party" is a student produced show that takes the Avant Garde and throws it in your face while maintaining the style and class of an upscale country club. SPAG (Students Pursuing Avant Garde) will be collaborating with OSU Art students to create an "art gallery" style dance performance full of fresh ideas and tea sandwiches. We hope to engage the audience with our bodies and pull them further in with exquisite artwork. This will not be your normal croquet-playing garden party, but rather an extravaganza that challenges the norm and leaves the audience wanting more. We hope to achieve the grace of art while embracing the grunge of fart.
PLUS... ITS FREE!!!!!

Warm Congratulations to all the Seniors - for the finely produced show last week, for the special exhibition, the reception, Alana's presentation, and all the impressive, thoughtful work. Special kudos to Liz for her immense undertaking coordinating it all and to her team, and of course thanks to Vickie Blaine, the recital lady! You do OSU Dance proud.
